Trends aren’t limited to fashion, there seems to be a new vogue when it comes to diet and nutrition every other month — keto, vegan, vegetarian, low-carb, high-carb, eating for your blood type, intermittent fasting — it’s hard to keep up. What works for one person, might not work for another, because every BODY is unique. With our Intuitive Eating Nutritional Guide, we help you tap into how your body feels. It is an art, it takes practice, but this skill can give way to the opportunity to ebb and flow with the changing needs of your personal vessel.
1. How does food make you feel?
Take a mental note of how your body physically feels when you eat specific foods or try different practices (less carbs, more fat, less fat, more carbs). Bloated or lean? Headache or clear? Regular bowel movements or constipated?
2. Check in with energy levels.
Do you feel like you need a nap immediately after eating? Feel energized and sustained for longer stretches of time? Have brain fog or have laser focus?
3. Make a journal with your results.
Map out the foods, meals, meal-times that resonate best for you and build around that.
4. Are you really hungry?
Food is one of the best distractions in the world, for both physical and emotional discomfort. It’s easy to misinterpret tiredness and dehydration for hunger too. Pause before unconsciously crushing a bag of chips & ask your body, am I truly hungry right now?
5. If you are hungry, eat!
Every BODY is different and many variables lend to who needs what and how much. Don’t compare your plate to anyone else’s.
6. Stay hydrated.
Avoid mistaking dehydration for hunger, drink up.
7. “When I love myself I drink/eat _____.”
Try it out. Shifting our narrative to a voice of self-love/nourishment, can impact the choices we make. “When I love myself I drink __(more water)___ & ___(eat clean)___.”
8. Physical mindful movements.
Yoga is a great example. Invest into spending time doing things that invite you to connect with your body and allow the ripple effect to extend into what lands on your plate and in your belly, if you want it to. Or give our Salty Club Get Started Yoga Program a try!
9. Try new things.
Have fun with your journey around food! Get creative with new clean whole food recipes (they don’t need to be complicated to be delicious) and see what lands for you.
