Lucie Francini | Videographer

From France

What is your role?

I’m a special guest on this Bali edition, I’ll be the videographer, capturing moving memories.

What’s your background and how did you acquire those skills?

I started with photography, and then little by little I realized that I liked the moving side of a video, and also the music aspect. I started filming but just for me – I didn’t think at that time that I would make it my job one day!

After working for a few years for an outdoors equipment brand as content producer, I decided to go freelance as a filmmaker. I did a training to start off with a solid base and then I started doing little projects for organizations, or friends starting their businesses, to really train. I mostly wanted to shoot in the water so I trained a lot with my boyfriend and surfer friends.

Ninja super skill people don’t know you possess?

I can clone myself to be able to surf and work at the same time  😉

Favorite place in the world?

Biarritz, in the South West of France… where I live!

I see the ocean every day, there are tons of surf spots that work in pretty much all tides, all wave sizes, for all styles of surfing, directly IN the city. The city itself is beautiful, pleasant to live in, there is some fun stuff happening but at the same time it’s not too big… overall, the perfect city!

What gets you the most excited in life?

To live by the ocean and be able to surf when I want to, to be surrounded by caring and inspiring people.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

To start as a freelance filmmaker! I just realized that I could choose to do what I liked so I told myself “give it a try, and you’ll see!” I definitely do not regret my choice. Today I live off my passion, I am in the water almost every day and I  work with a bunch of different and interesting people! 😉
