COVID-19 TRAVEL UPDATES
Borders, Measures & Requirements
Happily, Ecuador & El Salvador are now fully re-opened to national and international tourism. With proper prevention measures, we feel ready to run our retreats again. We would all benefit from a tropical vacation, right?!… Early wake-up call for sunrise surf sessions, healthy & delicious meals, deep conversations with like-minded souls, afternoon naps, sunset yoga… & REPEAT for 8 days… Yes Please!
EL SALVADOR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
El Salvador opened its borders and started welcoming back foreigners since September 2020. In order to enter the country, you must present:
- a COVID-19 vaccination card showing that you’ve received a complete series of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to entering the country.
-or-
- a PCR test certificate with a negative result received not more than 72 hours prior to your arrival to the country.
* Make sure to have a PRINTED version of your vaccination card or PCR test. There is no quarantine required. Verify with your airline if they have specific requirements regarding COVID-19. Regardless of COVID, no visa is required to enter El Salvador. Upon your arrival at airport, you’ll simply be asked to pay 12$US for a touristic card. You’ll then be allowed to stay for 90 days in the country.
For more detailed information, you can visit El Salvador governmental website .
ECUADOR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Ecuador approved resumption of commercial flight operations since June 2020. In order to enter the country, you must either present:
- a COVID-19 vaccination card showing that you’ve received a complete series of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to entering the country.
-or-
- a PCR test certificate with a negative result received not more than 72 hours prior to your arrival to the country.
*Make sure to have a PRINTED version of your vaccination card or PCR test. There is no quarantine required. Verify with your airline if they have specific requirements regarding COVID-19. Special rules apply to travellers whose point of origin is Brazil or India or who transit these countries en route to Ecuador. Reach out to us in case those countries are part of your itinerary. There’s no visa necessary. A maximum stay of 90 days in the country is authorized to regular tourists.
For more detailed information, you can visit Ecuador governmental website .
FOR BOTH DESTINATIONS, a travel insurance that covers Emergency Medical Coverage, including COVID-19 medical coverage is required to participate to the Experience. Lots of credit cards offer coverage for short holidays. We advise you to check with your bank. Otherwise, here’s a list of travel insurances covering COVID-19.
*If you need a PCR test to return back to your home country, we will organize that for you on site. The cost of the PCR test is NOT included in the retreat and therefore, you should plan some money for this (usually between 100$ to 150$US).
ON-SITE PROTOCOLS
Upon arrival, all participants will be taking a rapid antigen test in house. In case of a positive result, we will require a PCR test to make sure it is not a false positive. If the PCR test is positive or if a guest were to develop any COVID-19 symptoms throughout the retreat, we will help her to accommodate comfortably in a separate location from the group throughout the necessary quarantine time. The cost of this private accommodation and medicine -if needed- should be covered by the travel insurances; this is why it is mandatory to have a travel insurance covering COVID-19 to participate in the Experience. But since everyone participating in the retreat will have come in with their COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, having someone with a positive result is less likely to happen. We are doing this as a precautionary measure to make sure everyone feels safe to be spending a week in a group of 14 (10 participants + 4 staff) co-chambering and sharing social areas.
All Salty Souls staff team will be taking a PCR test prior to each retreat and would of course be sent home to quarantine in the case of a positive result or if developing any COVID-19 symptoms. We ask that everyone do their best to take precautionary measures to minimize the risk of exposure to the virus by washing their hands regularly and limit close contacts with people outside of the villa.
ABOUT MASKS, SOCIAL DISTANCING & CO-LIVING
The participants of a retreat + the staff members are considered as a social bubble. Therefore, masks and social distancing are not mandatory while inside the Salty Souls villa, but this is at your own discretion. We ask to please consider and respect everybody’s personal protocols and avoid entering in other people rooms without their permission. If something doesn’t make you feel confortable or you prefer not participating in an activity, please reach out to one of our staff member: no judgement here, we really want you to enjoy your well-deserved vacations and will honoured your requests with love.
The occupation, both in Ecuador and in El Salvador, is in shared rooms of 2 to 4 people, so you must be ok sharing your room and bathroom with other participants. The rooms, bathrooms and social area will be cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis. The cleaning/kitchen team will also be tested prior to each retreat and will be wearing masks.
During activities outside of the villa, the masks is only required in indoor public spaces. We encourage practicing social distancing with the people that are outsiders to our group.
CANCELLATION POLICY
The only factor that could cause a cancellation of the retreats is the closure of the borders of El Salvador/ Ecuador. If this were to happen, we will offer a travel credit of the same amount, that can be used on any further trip of the same value, any of our destinations, with no expiry date.
It’s everyone’s responsibility to have a printed version of their vaccination card showing the complete series of the COVID-19 vaccine taken at least 14 days prior to entering the country OR a Negative PCR Covid test received maximum 72 hours before the arrival to the country. We highly suggest doing the test in a private clinic to be sure to receive the result on time. It’s also your responsibility to check with your airline if they have some specific requirements. We are NOT responsible if a document is missing to embark on your flight.
In the case that you receive a positive PCR test making you unable to participate to the Experience, we will offer you a travel credit of the same amount, that can be used on any further trip of the same value, any of our destinations. If you were to develop any COVID-19 symptoms prior to departure, we require you to advise us and cancel your trip. We will offer you a travel credit, available to be used on any further trip for any of our destinations.
*We are not responsible for flight schedule changes / cancelled flight. We suggest purchasing refundable airline tickets and to check with your travel insurances what is their coverage in the case that you would miss your trip or a part of it due to a flight change.
