What is your role in the Salty Souls Experience ?
My intention is to create a nice space where I will be able to share with you my passion for travelling, discovering new cultures, interacting with humans, but above all, my ultimate love for surfing! Surf has totally changed my life, and I want to offer others the opportunity to discover the benefits of this sport and get to feel that incredible adrenaline rush of sliding on a wave!
With Salty Souls, I believe that we have the power to bring together passionate people, who share the same relentless desire to live to the fullest, and that we can only inspire one and another to build greater projects.
What’s your background and how did you acquire those skills ?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a deep love for the ocean, I always been looking for the thrill of it. I have a constant need for challenge and adrenaline, that’s what makes me feel alive ! After finishing my bachelor degree in Communications & Public relations, I got a destination representative job in Mexico. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, improve my English, learn Spanish and most of all, I wanted to try surfing, a sport I’d been craving for so long. Soon enough, I realized that surfing was way harder than I thought… but it was also more amazing than I had even imagined! Totally hooked, I decided I would do whatever I could to be able to travel and maximise my time in the ocean. Since then, I’ve been surfing all kind of waves and various different seas, around Indonesia, Central and South America!
What’s your biggest challenge within the Salty Souls Experience ?
Being in charge of the surf dimension, my biggest challenge revolves around the fact that the sport is fully dependent of Mother Nature. Therefore, I have to adjust my program everyday, depending on the tides and the conditions. I need to always have a Plan B in case Pacha-mama isn’t cooperating.
Ninja super skill people don’t know you possess ?
I’ve got the super skill of being able to look calm and in control, even when I’m totally freaking out, having no idea what I’m doing or where I’m going… aka fooling them all by putting on a gigantic stupid smile ! 😀 Oh, and I make the world’s best grilled cheese…
Favorite place in the world ?
As long as there are waves, sun and palm trees, I’m totally in my element! But my crushes are Montanita in Ecuador -my second home-, San Cristobal island in the Galapagos and Nias & Sumbawa Islands in Indonesia.
What gets you the most excited in life ?
Nobody will be surprised if I answer “surfing” to this question, right!? But beside my big enthusiasm for anything that provides an adrenaline rush, what makes me happy are the simple things in life; playing in the sand with my baby boy, family brunches, nights out with friends, being silly and free, afternoon naps, peanut butter and chocolate.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done ?
Mmmmm… I’ve got a couple crazy stories under my belt such as skydiving, bungee jumping, swimming with sharks…
But that time when I flew to Ecuador to meet with that pretty surfer I barely known was probably what most of the people would call ‘’silly’’… But crazily enough, he’s been my boyfriend for over 10 years now and he is now the father of my child 😉
