What is your role in the Salty Souls Experience ?
I have been leading sacred dance workshops for Salty Souls since their debut in El Salvador. This guided non-verbal practice cultivates freedom of movement and is designed to elevate consciousness on all levels.
I offer empowerment workshops which support the integrity of the body, mind and breath connection.
My utmost desire is to share my dedication to the “art of living” while helping you break free from self-limiting beliefs so that you can upgrade your experience of being and connect with your “bigger life”, or soul desires.
What’s your background and how did you acquire those skills ?
Trained as a manual therapist I have been immersed in the field of bodywork since graduating from the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts, in 1999.
My passion towards body alignment brought me to develop Deep Flow in 2016; an innovative approach that aims at merging the fields of yoga, meditation, massage, and dance to open new possibilities for the client.
Over the last decade I have been living a ‘slow life’ in the tropics yet keeping a watchful eye on the direction society is taking. I became rather curious about the effect of stress on the nervous system and decided to pursue my studies in this department. I completed a Restorative Yoga teacher training in Vancouver, BC in 2012 where the emphasis was on emotional balance. I am now offering workshops where we blend restorative yoga and myofascial release principles to help people build a resilient nervous system, and shift from surviving to thriving!
I believe that long-term beneficial transformation is possible when one increases self-awareness sensibility and balance.
What’s your biggest challenge within the Salty Souls Experience ?
It is challenging to step into a group of young vibrant women that I have never met before and set out to guide sacred dance events. I have to feel the pulse, inspire the dance floor, crack the chains that hold people back. I have to dive into the experience myself and then start the music, pick up the microphone and invite them on an adventure of self-discovery.
Such workshops drive me to stay open to what unfolds. There are those that dive deep, while others experience resistance to the experience, which can be daunting at times. I have to remain grounded and keep a broad perspective to ensure that everyone feels safe and supported.
I love the butterflies it gives me to prepare for such events, the fears I have to move through to remain fully present for the group and especially the natural high I get for days after we have danced, sweated and transformed together.
Ninja super skill people don’t know you possess ?
I am clairaudient, which means that I perceive vibrational sounds or words that one cannot hear themselves because of their own mind-chatter. I can ‘hear’ messages from spiritual realms and relate them to those I work with.
I prepare every “sacred ceremony” or workshop I host by entering an “alpha or meditative state” so that each event is specifically designed for those present.
Favorite place in the world ?
Up my meditation tower at my home in El Salvador. I love this quiet place of mine where the world stops and I can just be. I feel like I am part of the jungle and get an eagle view of it all, including my personal life.
And of course floating on a surfboard… it seems to me that what when I leave the shore and start paddling, I cleanse myself of anything that happens “there”, in the material world. It’s like a royal flush for me to go for a surf session. Sometimes the waves are crap, or flat but I still go for the overall effect it has on my state of mind.
What gets you the most excited in life ?
I am passionate about human nature and the evolution of the human mind!
I am in awe each time I witness either my own or someone else’s breakthrough. Every emotion is like an adventure for me!
I also love hitting a solid dance floor and getting rocked all night long by an inspiring DJ!
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done ?
Getting pregnant on a surf trip in Mexico with a guy I hardly knew, and going ahead with it! I am now the mother of a wild yet sensitive jungle kid and it feels as though the 3 of us are still on the same wild and crazy surf trip, 9 years later!
I love the challenge that it takes to constantly define and redefine what it means for us to be a family while cultivating our sense of self, and personal space.
