What is your role in the Salty Souls Experience ?
I am in charge of everything relative to the surf for Salty El Salvador. Surfing is my number one passion and I want to share my knowledge to help you demystify and experience of this amazing sport!
Surfing has been at the center of my life for the last couples of years and I want to share with you my love and respect of the ocean, this is a special place where happiness can come in small and simple things.
What’s your background and how did you acquire those skills ?
I have a degree in International Business and Human Rights, but that is just on paper. In reality, I am addicted to travels. I truly believed that traveling is a school as valuable as a degree from a university. Being out of your comfort zone while being guided by your guts is something you can’t learn in a classroom.
In 2010, I had the chance to put my feet on a surfboard for the first time. The power of the wave, the feeling of gliding over the water, and the energy of the ocean got me hooked instantly. Since then, all my trips were planned around surfing.
I lived in El Salvador for the past year and got to learn its beautiful culture. I also had the chance to meet Erika and Marie-Christine and see what Salty Souls Experience was all about. The experience is such an amazing opportunity for Ladies from different backgrounds to all get out of their comfort zones in such a beautiful location. I am so stoked and lucky to be part of the team!
What’s your biggest challenge within the Salty Souls Experience ?
Surfing is 100% dependent on Mother Nature, reading the conditions can sometimes be very challenging! I need to be flexible to provide the best environment possible to insure all guests have an amazing experience. Having a plan B (or C!) is always necessary.
Ninja super skill people don’t know you possess ?
I have the fastest moving eyebrows and nostrils! Skills to pay the bills, they say… Not sure! But it’s funny enough to entertain a small crowd! Haha
Favorite place in the world ?
I totally fell in love with El Zonte, El Salvador. I was supposed to spend 6 weeks there and ended up living there for one year. Oooops! It simply feels like home. El Salvador is a beautiful country that keeps me amazed by the kindness of its people, the breath taking sceneries and of course the quality of its waves! I have seen a lot of beautiful places all around the world, but El Salvador has this unique way to reach my heart.
What gets you the most excited in life ?
Surfing (suuuurprise!!) and that unique feeling you get after a good wave. Nothing can beat the adrenaline rush you get! It is the best reward after your efforts. Aside from surfing, I love to travel, to discover new cultures and meet new people. Everything is better when shared with good company. I might be a girl who likes intense sports and to push my limits, but I definitely have the ability to stop and do sweet nada! It is the best way to enjoy the simple things in life.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done ?
The craziest thing I did was when I gave up my safe little bubble I had in Montreal when I left on a one-way ticket to El Salvador with pretty much no savings. I gave up on a good job, a great boyfriend, the car, the dog… I faced the fact that Montreal wasn’t making me happy and trying to fit into “society’s standards” wasn’t made for me. Deep inside, I realised a long time ago that I finally had the courage to make the jump and to follow what makes me truly happy. It was a pretty frightening moment but looking back at it, I am sooooo happy I did it!
