What is your role in the Salty Souls Experience?
I am feeding the troops! My goal is to share my vision, my passion, my tips to keep good daily habits and my knowledge in order to help you see more clearly through all the trends and multiple beliefs that surround an healthy alimentation. I also want to generate memorable moments with great conversations shared around good & fresh local food. ‘Cause the best talks always happen at the table!
What’s your background and how did you acquire those skills?
I started cooking at a very young age, but it mostly started when I was a teen. I found out at this precise moment how possibilities where unlimited with food and cooking. So much flavors, different cultures, it really seduced me ! I started trying different recipes, learning and trying as much as possible, and it would always end up in huge & epic feasts (a special thanks to my mom’s credit card) ! On the business side, I always kept touch with gastronomy. I made my internship at Les Saisons de Clodine (a very cheesy cooking tv program) and worked a lot with caterers of the event planning industry. And since the beginning of the Salty Souls Experience, I am traveling the world trying to get the most of every culture by tasting everything, doing local cooking classes etc. So basically, I am a self-educated cook.
What’s your biggest challenge within the Salty Souls Experience?
Now that my passion is my work, I need to work hard to keep the inspiration flowing. Establishing a diversified healthy menu for our new destinations without knowing the variety of ingredients you’re going to find on location is quite challenging too.
I also have to organise my schedule well enough to be able to surf in the day. Yeah I know…hard life kinda challenge…
Ninja super skill people don’t know you possess?
When I am in a good mood, I read minds. But few people already found out about it. No kidding… I also make a great imitation of Macy Grey!
Favorite place in the world?
Anywhere there is things to discover, good waves to ride, good food to enjoy, friends to laugh with… Anywhere I feel home in this no home life. Often for me, it’s more a question of moments than places so anywhere there is a way to create epic moments, doing the things I like the most.
What gets you the most excited in life?
Everything about food, surf, travels, music, friends, nature and animals ! Pushing your limits when surfing gets you pretty high on life ! Otherwise, I pretty much get excited about everything FUN ! I am a serious epicurean and I’m always willing to jump into all kind of projects ! A little fiesta every once in a while… Oh…and finding a decent coffee place near where I live !
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Hard to say! So many things come to my mind…Night diving in a wreck , bungee jumping over waterfalls in Whistler, swimming with sea turtles of my size in Hawaii, hang out with seals, riding down a volcano on a mountain bike with a crazy view on the ocean and tropical islands etc. But also unusual stuff like going out in a bar with cereal boxes as shoes…
Now this is the answer I gave when I first filled this questionnaire in September 2015. Looking back, it’s hard not to mention the fact that I quit and let behind everything I had built for years ; my job, my boyfriend, my house, my cat etc. to work with 2 crazy women on a bold project, learn to surf and spin around the globe like crazy. I got rid of almost every possession. All I kept is pretty much my family, friendships, some clothes and my dream of living the life some people don’t even dare to dream about. Moral of the story : craziest things are the best !
